This piece depicts Shini-Yokai (death spirits) combing over a recently-deceased fox in search of its soul. Not much is known about why they do this or what they do with the soul once it is found- but the almost ritual-like act of the search itself is well documented. This piece is part of a larger mythology I am developing.
