Description
SLEEPERS is a more formal representation of my ongoing fascination with lost technology in art...less the tin toy robots and more the real robot influences. More information can be found on my painting blog, DAUB DU JOUR http://daubdujour.blogspot.com/2011/11/latest-paintings.html The birds were photographed in situ inside the bird sanctuary at Taronga Park Zoo in Sydney, Australia in 2010. The robot head is a film artifact photographed in a private collection in Fukushima, Japan, more than ten years ago. Sometimes you have to wait quite a while for an idea to take flight and the element just fall together like they were made for each other. This painting is an example of that....
